b. 1998, South Africa
Brittany is a feminist artist, creating large scale female nudes in oils encouraging women to have more self-confidence and acceptance. Painting real women with real stories.
A continuing theme throughout the duration of her Fine Art (BA) Hons degree was about women’s physical and mental struggles within themselves due to society. This theme was motivated by her own personal body struggles using herself as a model, to begin with. Whilst also using the ongoing discussions of the male gaze to influence her work in raising awareness of the issues surrounding it.
She is consistently using live models, sketches, photography and Blu-tack sculptures to support her in producing her paintings. Her love of oils was influenced by her elder sister’s oil paintings. Her creative inspirations started at a young age as she grew up in a creative family, her father specializing in pottery.
She is currently based in Suffolk.
